Job Summary

Newly announced in 2020 as one of several commitments by the corporation to invest more in the pursuit of equity, the Senior Manager will have primary oversight and accountability for the development, execution and continuous improvement of a new grant-making and social impact portfolio focused on racial equity. In addition to corporate philanthropy, the Senior Manager will support the Foundation Director with new applications for the integration of equity across programs and processes in community relations, volunteerism and employee engagement.
Externally, the Senior Manager of the Equity Program will build strategic alliances and partnerships to serve as the Foundation's liaison with groups critical to the Foundation's equity objectives. Internally, the Senior Manager will work across the Foundation to increasingly integrate programmatic priorities for maximized utilization of resources and impact. Additionally, the Senior Manager will work across the Corporate Brand department and others in the company to further integrate the Foundation's work and maximize its impacts. Primary areas of accountability include:
• Serve as thought leader and expert on issues of racial equity and corporate philanthropy.
• Utilize existing and, as needed, create new research, feedback mechanisms and strategic planning to develop the racial equity pillar's theory of change and operating model.
• Identify and implement leading approaches to philanthropy that advance equity in the Foundation's operations.
• Advise and advance the Foundation's overall positioning with diverse stakeholders.An integral part of the Corporate Brand department, The Allstate Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Allstate, focused on driving social impact. The Foundation works to create more prosperous communities where people are empowered to fulfill their hopes and dreams by inspiring the next generation of leaders, breaking the cycle of domestic violence, advancing racial equity, strengthening nonprofit leadership and encouraging employees and agents to be community leaders. The Foundation team is a talented, creative, passionate and strategic group of individuals who are research-based, outcomes-driven and social impact-focused.

The Senior Manager of the Equity Program of The Allstate Foundation is responsible for building its new racial equity social impact pillar, for the adoption of equitable philanthropic practices across the Foundation and for supporting the Foundation's positioning in pursuit of equity and opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

Program Design and Execution: Beginning with efforts already underway within the Foundation, create and implement the racial equity program strategy, continuously monitoring for effectiveness and opportunities for improvement. Apply deep expertise from the field into the program design and work intentionally to secure and respond to feedback from grantees, external experts and internal parties.

Grantmaking, Operations and Impact Measurement: Conduct most aspects of the racial equity pillar grantmaking process, including but not limited to: program research, reviewing grant proposals, evaluating organizational health and effectiveness, communicating and partnering with grantees and the public, and reporting to Foundation governance and stakeholders on progress and impact. Contribute to the framework by which impact is measured and reported to governing bodies and external stakeholders. Be a lead contributor to long-term strategic planning, developing annual operating plans and budgets for equity programming, providing updates to governing bodies and tracking performance and impact.

Model and Advance Equitable Philanthropy: Bring modern and innovative practices to corporate philanthropy and support the application of best practices across the Foundation. Alongside other Foundation leaders, participate in networks and forums to increase The Allstate Foundation's visibility and enhance its reputation and thought leadership position through speaking opportunities and dialogue with key stakeholders.
Talent Development: Demonstrate dedication to the professional development and continued learning of team members and direct reports. Contribute to the performance management of the Foundation team, design of ongoing professional learning regarding equity and trust-based philanthropy and actively support employee performance and fulfillment.
Collaborate with Key Partners Across the Company: Coordinate with PR, Issues Management, Research, Consumer Marketing, Social Media, Legal, senior leaders and other Centers of Excellence across the enterprise, to build support for Foundation programs and help bring them to life internally and externally in line with the broader corporate strategy.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise, support, lead and develop direct report(s), including ongoing performance management, succession and development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree with concentration in social impact field; and an MBA, MS, MSW or other advanced degree is preferred
• 10-15 years of nonprofit leadership, social impact, community relations experience

• Proven ability to build and evolve an organization or large-scale program to align to current social issues
• Proven leader with a demonstrated track record of success in social impact strategies and leading a team
• Advanced relationship management and leadership skills
• Results-driven with demonstrated ability to articulate a vision and generate necessary consensus and action
• An experienced and visionary leader who brings judgment, wisdom and business savvy to the organization
• Advanced ability to translate objectives into action plans
• Extensive experience leading and managing cross-functional teams; exceptional project management skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities given aggressive timelines, ability to perform in a dynamic and ambiguous business environment, ability to manage internal and external resources

Compensation Data

The minium salary for this position is $115,000. The salary offered will be commensurate with experience.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
